Biography
Adam Syvertsen’s research brings together narratology, critical theory, and the history of political economy to investigate representations of utopia in the Atlantic World since the late 18th century. His work examines the relationship between literary and social speculation, arguing for renewed attention to how utopian images can (and have) inspired revolutionary political action. His article “‘I’ll wait no longer’: Emigration, Speculation, and Utopia in Martin R. Delany’s Blake” is forthcoming in J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists.
