J. Scott Clark Award for Outstanding Aptitude in Creative Writing
J. Scott Clark was a professor of Rhetoric, English Criticism, and Elocution at Syracuse University, where he is remembered for changing the university colors from pink and blue, considered excessively babyish, to a more energetic orange. After joining the Northwestern English Department in 1892, he wrote the original Latin lyrics for the university hymn, Alma Mater.
